Area business leaders will have an opportunity to gain firsthand perspectives about fraud and employee theft during a Professional Breakfast Series: How to Prevent Fraud from 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Avalon Manor Banquet Center, 3550 E. Lincoln Highway, Merrillville. Barry J. Webne, an experienced corporate controller and a twice-convicted embezzler, will be the speaker. On two occasions, Webne was convicted of embezzling more than $1 million from his employers and served time in federal prison. Today he trains, lectures to, and consults with financial and managerial professionals across the United States and Canada and has written four books relating to the prevention and detection of occupational fraud and employee theft.
